Celtic 2–1 Sturm Graz: Signs of Life at Last

Celtic finally found a much-needed win in Europe with a 2–1 victory over Sturm Graz — and while it was far from vintage, there were at least signs of progress. After a turgid first half that offered more of the same slow and predictable play, the Bhoys improved noticeably after the break, playing with greater intensity and purpose.
The press was sharper throughout, and the second-half performance in particular showed a bit more bite and bravery in possession. Engels was excellent once again — composed on the ball and willing to carry it forward — while Scales delivered a steady, commanding showing at the back. Nygren impressed with his tireless movement, and Kenny injected some much-needed energy up top, his pressing and runs giving Celtic a different dimension.
Hatate endured a poor first hour, often slowing the tempo, but to his credit he came alive in the final 30 minutes — driving the team forward and linking play more effectively as Celtic pushed for the win.
Unfortunately, the night wasn’t without concern. Iheanacho and Johnston, making his return from injury, both went off early with fresh knocks, while Carter-Vickers appeared to limp off near the end — potentially a big worry ahead of the crucial domestic fixtures to come.
Still, Celtic did what they had to: they won, showed more aggression, and offered a glimmer of the pace and energy supporters have been desperate to see.
Onto Hearts… 🍀
