The 12th Minute Protest: Standing Up for Celtic’s 12th Man

Today at Rugby Park, Celtic supporters will send a powerful message. For the opening 12 minutes, the stands will be quieter than usual as fans hold back entry in a bold protest against a board that has grown increasingly disconnected from its support. On the 12th minute, the “12th man” will arrive — a visual and vocal reminder that Celtic fans are not to be ignored.
This action comes on the back of an Open Letter signed by 420 supporters and organisations, a letter which the board has arrogantly failed to respond to. The silence from those in charge has only reinforced the frustration of a fanbase that wants nothing more than for Celtic to be run with ambition, transparency, and respect for the people who fill the stadium week after week.
Let’s be clear: this protest is not about harming the team. Every Celtic fan wants victory today, and every Celtic fan will roar the team forward as soon as the 12th minute passes. The protest is aimed solely at those in the boardroom who continue to treat supporters as customers, not as the lifeblood of the club. As Jock Stein once rightly said: “Football without fans is nothing.”
By delaying entry, we demonstrate both our discontent and our unity. It is a symbolic reminder that without the people in the stands, Celtic would be hollow. We invest our money, time, and passion into the club — and it is time the board matched that commitment by listening, by acting, and by showing ambition worthy of our history.
Once the stands fill, the backing will be thunderous. The players will get the support they deserve, because our frustrations lie not with them but with those who have let the squad stagnate and failed to match Celtic’s potential. The protest is both a warning and a call to action: supporters will not be silenced, and we will not allow Celtic to drift.
This is our club. This is our 12th man. And today, for 12 minutes, we remind the board of exactly who holds the real power at Celtic.
