Celtic 0–0 Hibernian: Passive, Predictable, and Points Dropped

Celtic were held to a frustrating 0–0 draw at Parkhead this afternoon, in a game that once again highlighted the recurring issues that have defined too much of this season.

Bright Start Fizzles Out

For the first half hour, the Bhoys looked sharp. The passing was quicker, the movement had purpose, and chances were created — reflected in the xG stats that showed Celtic were on the front foot early. It looked like the platform was there to go on and take control.

But as has been the case too often, that intensity slipped. The tempo slowed, the passes became safe and sideways, and the team once again drifted into a passive rhythm that made it all too easy for Hibs to defend against.

Predictable Patterns

Hibs were compact and disciplined, but they didn’t need to be spectacular. Celtic’s lack of invention and urgency played right into their hands. The forward line offered little variety, with movement in the final third minimal and predictable. When Celtic did find space, the final ball or finish wasn’t there.

It became a familiar sight: sterile possession, Hibs comfortably in their shape, and the home crowd growing restless.

Overall Assessment

A clean sheet against a side with pace in attack is no disaster, but this was a huge missed opportunity. Celtic had the better chances overall, but over 90 minutes there was never enough drive or ruthlessness to force the breakthrough.

The story of the game can be summed up simply: slow, passive, predictable. Until those traits are shaken off, games like this will continue to slip away.
